The government does not plan to lift the ban on settlements in cryptocurrency on the territory of the Russian Federation, said Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev. On January 1, 2021, the law on digital financial assets came into force, which officially recognizes cryptocurrency as property. At the same time, the document prohibits the use of digital assets as a means of payment.
Last week, the head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market Anatoly Aksakov said that the deputies need to prescribe legislative restrictions on investment in cryptocurrencies for unqualified investors. According to Aksakov, cryptocurrencies are a new financial instrument and quite difficult for an unskilled investor.
