The Zilliqa crypto project introduced digital assets backed by the rare whiskey from the Casks of Distinction collection. These instruments can be held for investment purposes or exchanged for alcohol
Blockchain project Zilliqa has released the first whiskey tokens, he said on his blog . The digital assets are backed by a rare single malt Scotch whiskey from the Casks of Distinction collection. The instruments have been added to the Hg Exchange, a regulated Singapore-based exchange.
Whiskey tokens will be re-issued as new bottles are produced. After the beverage is bottled, digital instruments will be added to the Hg Exchange. Users can buy an asset and hold it as an investment, or exchange one token for one bottle, the company said.
In addition to whiskey, there are many more examples of what tokens were issued for. For example, in September, the blockchain startup Sorare presented tokens for Neymar and David Beckham and other players of the Paris Saint-Germain club. Another example is the tokens for each of the US presidential candidates, which were issued by the FTX exchange.
