ProShares Bitcoin Futures ETF Launches Trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)
The first ETF based on Bitcoin futures of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME Group) began trading in the United States. The Bitcoin Strategy ETF from ProShares is listed under the ticker BITO on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
At the start of trading, the bitcoin rate at the moment rose to $ 63.2 thousand, after which it began to decline. As of 17:35 Moscow time, the first cryptocurrency is traded at $ 61.8 thousand.
In the first 20 minutes, the volume of trading in ProShares shares exceeded $ 280 million. Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas said that the instrument entered the top 15 ETFs for the most active starts in the first trading session.
Earlier, Grayscale Investments, in partnership with the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), filed an application with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to convert its Grayscale Bitcoin Trust into an exchange-traded fund (ETF). The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust functions similarly to ETFs in that it is secured and priced at Bitcoin. It is not registered with the SEC, so only accredited investors have access to it.
