The Savelovsky Court of Moscow rejected the first lawsuit in Russia to recover from illegal possession of cryptocurrency – 16.6 bitcoins. Lawyer Boris Bashilov said

"RIA Novosti" that the session lasted an hour, the judge spent a long time in the deliberation room, but refused. The motivation part of the solution will be ready later.

In 2018, Andrei Petrov, Bashilov's client, transferred 16.6 bitcoins to the crypto wallet of his friend Igor Tukan for the purpose of trust management. As of November 10, their cost is $ 1.095 million (about 78 million rubles). The plaintiff verbally agreed with an acquaintance that he would invest the cryptocurrency and return it in five months, leaving himself 20% of the profit. However, five months later, Toucan reported that he had lost bitcoins.

The plaintiff's lawyer claims that at that time such issues were not regulated in Russian legislation, however, at the beginning of 2021, the law "On financial digital assets" came into force in Russia. Now the cryptocurrency on the territory of Russia has the status of property. Bashilov plans to challenge the court decision.
