I’m happy to help some. I’m a student at the Media Lab and developed the VirtualGaza project that’s linked off the full description. It’s all Python/Django/OpenLayers/jQuery, so it looks like we have a good technical overlap. I also live in Somerville, and am excited about the Green Line extension.

Ah, very cool. Thanks Dan. To start, we are focusing on Python because that’s our background and where we’re developing tools. But if a sweet rails person came along that would be fine, I think.
